Well, John is happily home from the hospital, sans appendix, and life is beginning to return to normal. We are all very grateful to "Uncle Bill" (our friend and the boy's godfather, Bill Burns) who watched the children while I hung out at the hospital with John. I lounged in a chair beside the sleeping John, reading the latest Mary Balogh book and the latest Harry Dresden book (love the series, but lousy hospital reading due to the violence level) while BIll watched my kids, who had the audacity to get sent home from school for being sick, giving Bill a lot more to do than he normally would have had to.
Bill definitely rocks.
Today, though, life returns kind of to normal. Kind of because Orville and I had to be at his school at Peeping 6:30 in the morning to go on a field trip to Richmond. The trip was fabulous, though. My favorite part was a trip to St. John's Episcopal Church...the very church where Patrick Henry gave his "Give me liberty or give me death!" speech. We got to see a reenactment of the congress and the speech with guys in costum. Washington, Jefferson, and Richard Henry Lee (the guy who gets a song about him in 1776) were all "present." It was terrific!
All in all, a good day!
