07:43 am: Magic Forever and Do Anything

The title phrase refers to my husband's youthful answer to the question: what would you wish for if you had three wishes. His answer: I would want to be magic forever and do anything, then I wouldn't need the second two wishes.

Assuming being magic forever and doing anything was NOT an option…what would you want magic to do?

I realize I asked this before, but still gathering info. In this particular case, the more specific the answers the better. Both "what would you want in daily life" and "what would you want in a battle fighting monsters or evil wizards" would be useful.

I don't know if this is another version of cheating, but I'd wish for enough sense to make good wishes.

Healing, particularly things that do not respond well to traditional medicine

That I've already got, as Cate well knows. ;-)

I'm working on the spell lists for the later years...trying to figure out what should go on them. I put most of the best stuff from the Corruptioin Campaign in the first year list.

I was especially thinking of the mental illnesses.

I'm more selfish -- teleportation. If I could teleport anywhere, at any time, safely... man, my life would be different. I don't even want to steal money from bank vaults. Just being completely free of all car-associated costs, and travel-associated time requirements... how awesome would that be? My sister lives 5 hours away, by car, but we could have lunch together every day. In Paris. I would give the other two wishes away to, like, world peace or hunger or something, if I could get teleportation.

Got it! (Roanoke has both Jumping...personal teleportation, and walking glasses (and Travel Glasses, which are big walking glasses) mirrors that you can step through to instantly be elsewhere.

I, too, would love instant travel. It is one of the things I would personally wish for.

Let's see. Assuming that a wish to be so marvelously wise so to make the best possible use of the other two wishes is also out --

it would be kinda nice for a power to compel people to do as they promised, with the ability to exempt them as well.

My magical world has both oaths that compel and geases, so that's covered...though geases are considered black magic.

In Mage: the Ascension, there's a low-level power that lets you split your mind in half--you can think about two things simultaneously while devoting all of your attention to both those things. I'm a stay-at-home mom; I'd KILL for that power. I can't remember the last time I could devote a decent amount of attention to morning prayers because I was too busy listening to hear whether my toddler was finding new ways to kill himself, or stopping after every third saint's name to answer his latest question. And it's next to impossible for me to think about my writing in any detail if it isn't naptime.

Comparmentalized mind...or splitting in two. My other background has that power. I don't think this one does...but, yeah...one thing I love reading about in Near Death Experiences is the fact that people in the afterworld seem to be able to do this...be in two or more places at once. (One experience I read claimed that Jesus could do this...by times a million...that he could be in millions of places at once. ;-)
