07:45 am: Titles

So…normally, titles are not a problem for me. Heck, I even title my chapters, and people complement me on the amusing or intriguing chapter names.

But I cannot for the life of me come up with a title for this current book.

For the last 25 years, I’ve assumed it was going to be called: The Corruption Campaign. But it doesn’t have anything to do with that…I started the story at a different place. So that one is out.

Some others:

The Dreames Whose Dreams Come True — too long and not the right mood

Creator Visions — too short

The Makers of Worlds – a bit dull

Saving the World in Silver Shoes — funny not the right mood

Actually, I don't think there's such a thing as "too short" - especially when cover designers need to factor in the reality that a lot of readers are going to be viewing the title as a tiny icon before buying it on their ereader...

(And I really like CORRUPTION CAMPAIGN - even if it no longer fits the story!)

I should have been more specific: too short to sound good with the other titles I have made up for later volumes. (I have plenty of titles for later volumes.)

I really like The Corruption Campaign, too...unfortunately, The Redemption Campaign would probably fit better. ;-)

i agree.. too short isnt an issue IF the title works. it makes it easier to see and read.

how about"creator / destroyer" or "The Fate Trap"

I'm trying to get a title that both sums up this book and fits with what is to come. I have a whole list of things that fit one way or the other, but nothing that matches the mood I want.

As I said above, the shortness has to do with the flow of other titles I have planned, rather than with the title itself.

Creator Visions really fits the book better than nearly anythign else (since that is what it is about) but my editor didn't like it when we talked about it as a substitute for my first choice for the series title, so he probably would not like it for a book title either.

Just a suggestion:

As Long as We Keep Believing

It's from this quote:
"We all have our own life to pursue, our own kind of dream to be weaving, and we all have the power to make wishes come true, as long as we keep believing."

That is close to what I need. I wish I could come up with a title that had the word Wonder in it, but every one I've tried sounds trite.

Believing In Wonders was one I tried. ;-)

Awakening of Dreams?
Dreams of Power? Power of Dreams? True Dreams?
Dream-shapers? Dream-smiths?
Armies of the Dream? Invasion of Dreams? Dream-War?

All kind of close, but not quite.

I need something like We Are The Creators Of Worlds or The Birth of the Creators.

or Of Marvels and Unicorns.

The Unicorn, the Archmage, and the Yeti? The Ghost, the Raven, and the Runelord? The Gods, the Yeshue, and the Sons of Darkness?

While I like the Kipling quote, the Dreamers Whose Dreams Come True, the characters in the story are not really dreamers...they are, in fact, Creators...people with the power to create worlds...

...or at least they will be once the story is over.
