09:15 pm: The're's a Penguin On My Desktop
A dancing penguin, who knocks on the screen and spouts Chinese characters...thus is the life of the mom of a teen.

We've been trying to sign Ping-Ping up for school. Hopefully, she'll go on Wednesday, but we keep running into snags, such as the school not accepting our adoption document and insisting on enrolling her in her old name or not being able to find a record of the TB test she just took. Still, she will be starting soon. She'll attend a nearby secondary school as an ESOL (English as a Second Language...not sure what the O is for) student.

Yesterday, she met her girl cousins...three absolutely gorgeous blonds between 12 and 16 years old. They hit it off great! Girls text each other anyway nowadays, so using the translator box came naturally.

Still working out the food thing...

ESOL, English for Speakers of Other Languages

It's the new phraseology.

Glad she is having a good time and hope that she is hopping off to school soon.

I can imagine there would be culture shock involved. Does Ping-Ping have a rudimentary understanding of English?

She's had some English, but it wasn't spoken, so she's uncomfortable speaking. She understands many things if we don't speak too fast.

As long as she's happy, everything else fades into the background, right? :)

Sounds like you have another blessing in the house. And there are worse things than dancing penguins!
