09:14 am: Mouse Guard

I am reprinting two emails I received without comment:

All,

I was looking at the results of the 2009 Origin Awards, and I noticed two very cool things. First, that one of my buddies from St John's, Dominic Crapuchettes, had his game get first place in party games! Second, that Mouse Guard beat out the D&D 4th Edition Player's Handbook!

Later,
Bill Erskine

I've actually played the Mouse Guard game. It's fantastic! In a world
choked by WoW, an outside-of-the-box system (heavily modified Burning
Wheel, if you're familiar with that) and setting are refreshing. I
highly recommend it to... well, everyone!

The Indiegamers I play small press games with have batted back and forth the idea of trying Mouseguard at some point. We were turned off a bit by Luke Crane's previous effort, Burning Wheel (which uses a similar system) though, so we'll see.
