05:18 pm: Overheard At The Wright Household

Mom: "Are those the warriers John Carter sent you for Christmas?"

Juss: "Yes,but none of them look like Martian warriers.:

Mom: "Maybe they are Martian Warhammer warriers."

Juss: "That makes no sense.  Maybe they were sent by a person who was just pretending to be John Carter." He pauses. "But how would he have known that Orville and I liked John Carter?"

I love the fact that it is harder to believe that a stranger would know that Orville and Juss liked John Carter than that John Carter himself could have heard of them.

And to think of all the trouble I went to not to fool them about Santa Claus

****

Juss: "That is a waste of orcs!"

If there isn't a collective noun for a group of orcs yet, "a waste of orcs" would make a good one.

There's some parallel here to the if-you-don't-have-play-weapons-around-the-house-your-kids-will-make-them-out-of-Legos principle.

Cool, imaginary, super-powered authority figures seem to be a must.

May I recommend Bronze Age Miniatures? They make a superb little line of Barsoomian figures, just right to go with Warhammer-type minis. From their home page, check out '32mm Scifi'. The Green Men...I mean, their 'Wasteland Mutants' are excellent.

A word of warning, however: the women are sculpted as Mr. Burroughs described them, for the most part, wearing almost nothing. John Carter and the men, though, are a bit more modestly adorned. There are some more clothed versions of the Princess of Helium out there, I just can't find them at the moment.)

We will keep this in mind...but the Christmas miracle came with a HUGE number of Warhammer figures...so it will be some time until they need more.
