04:15 pm: Return of the Six Year Old

Some of you may remember the six-year old who hid behind a column and prayed for the fat lady at the circus. This was not my mom’s only encounter with the healing power of ‘Thy will be done’ at the age of six.

On another occasion her family was traveling on the subway. A bit down the car from them was a man who was obviously drunk. He was talking loudly and causing a disturbance.

My little mom, age six, closed her eyes and turned her thoughts to God, praying again: “Thy will be done!”

The man quieted down.

As they were leaving the train, the man walked up and shook hands with my grandfather. He said, “Thank you for what this little girl was thinking about me.”

That’s the part that always astonished me. On that crowded train, how did the man know who was praying for him? Nor is this the only time this happened. Once as an adult, Mom found herself on a subway train in a very similar situation. Again she prayed, this time to know that Man is created in the Image and Likeness of God. Again, the man fell quiet and, again, he came up as she got off the train, looking sober and all put together, and thanked her. He shook her hand and said, “I don’t know what you have, but it certainly is strong!”

How did these men know who had prayed for them on a crowded train?

If she could see them, they could see her. And if they felt the presence of the Holy Spirit, and looked up to see a little girl praying, they might put two-and-two together...

That could be, but I've come upon this phenomena in other people's testimonies, too, where the healed person seemed to know who was praying for them -- even when it wasn't obvious. I've always wondered what it felt like from the point of view of the person being healed.

It seems improbable that words would be able to do the experience justice.

Golden glowie around the head. Dead giveaway.

....

Actually, I'm kind of serious-- that's a really old way of symbolizing that Big Holy Stuff is here; perhaps it's a visual version of a "feeling"?

There's something in the Bible that may give a clue - John 12: 32 "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." Your mom was lifted up with a Christ-like thought, spiritually above the human scene, and maybe that is what drew the man to her. And I actually heard a testimony once of a man who SAW the halos on everyone after he had a remarkable healing. He described everything as glowing with light from within. Very cool. Ooooo, gosh I would love to be a healer along the lines of your mom!

Wow! Go Mom!! :) Your mom is so cool! There was one time I prayed for my dad. I didn't tell anyone. My dad thanked me about 3 days into it. I said, "how did you know I was praying for you?" And my dad said, "I could feel it." I hadn't seen him for a few days. And that's all he could say, "I could feel it." I still feel it's a mystery too. But maybe it's like that lady who someone else prayed about (in your file that you shared with me) who said, "I heard you." ... when the other person brought her back. If you know what I mean.... Love love love, JodiB
