09:47 am: Overheard at the Wright Household

At the pool the other day, a child asked me if the Cherubim talked with sign language. I explained, not really. He then asked why he couldn’t talk.

Justinian, who was present turned around and answered:

“That’s my brother. He’s dumb…as in mute.”

I was amused that he knew the distinction between the two meanings of dumb.

Is he a late-talking child, such as described by Tom Sowell?

No. He is autistic. He can talk, but he does not--for the most part.

He did say "How bout my bus?" yesterday when the bus was very late. ;-)
