02:44 pm: Gosh! I'm so glad that there was no blogging when I was young!

I just had this sudden vision of the kind of melodramatic drivel I would have blogged about if I had had access to blogging when I was young. Judging by what I wrote in my journal at the time and the kind of thing I said to perfect strangers, I probably would have written a great deal personal feelign and emotional stuff that would be really, really embarrassing if someone searched it up nowadays.

Wow.

I feel protected...but worried for those out there now.

Guess I can pray for others to have wisdom in what the post (and me, too. Nothing about being older that necessitates a lack of supidity. ;-)

My teenager doesn't blog. She just does do Facebook. I've warned her off sharing her really personal feelings there. Seems to have stuck. I hope.

And I would have been just the sort to save it all and present it to you at the least convenient time imaginable. For instance, in front of your teenaged kids.

Oh yes. Do they really have the judgment to not publish anything they would object to seeing on the front page of the newspaper?

I still keep a private, off-line diary where I say things like what I think of my boss, joys of sex, comments about students, neighbors, etc. But I've been a newspaper editor and I understand libel law. And what happens to stuff that is printed on the front page of a newspaper.

I may not have been so wise at age 16, though.

And I do see comments about those sorts of things on-line. No matter how "friends-locked" it is, it can all be hacked. Danger!

I shudder to think of my younger self blogging. I had quite the potty mouth at one time. I was also afflicted with the blinders of youth in believing everything I thought was the only truth.

I think we should forgive and forget anything said before a person is 25! And half of it, thereafter.

Here here. I heartily subscribe to the theory that you're not really sane until you're older than 25. At least, I wasn't.

I've still got my old journals from when I was a teen. Looking through them is embarassing.

Hell, looking through my LJ entries as recently as a few months ago is sometimes embarassing.
