Juss's Mario  Mushroom Birthday Cake

Juss at the busstop: "I hate school! I just want to talk to Daddy. Daddy makes everything interesting. School is boring!"

Also.

Juss: "I want to be homeschooled."
Mommy: "You do realize that would be me. Daddy has to work."
Juss, without so much as pausing: "Not on the weekend! I want to be homeschooled on the weekend!"

And his R2D2 cake for his party,
held two weeks after his birthday, due to snow

Fine. He can be homeschooled on the weekends and go to regular school on weekdays.

The problem with having Daddy homeschool is the same problem my kids would have I think. Dad would probably try to turn everything into a role-playing game as he did when trying to help me "study" for a physics test in college.
Unfortunately there was no mention of Romulans on the exam, and I'm thinking there would be few mentions of space princesses on the S.A.T.

What Juss is referring to is that, for some reason, both he and Orville are absolutely fascinated by sitting and listening to Daddy describe history or science. They'll sit for hours while he tells them about American History or how stars and planets work.

Juss is right. That is much more interesting than school. I just wish it could be otherwise.

(Still chuckling over the Romulans on the physics exam, though not as hard as I laughed at John's description of our Valentine's Day movie choice. What were we thinking???)

Awesome cakes!
And go Dad--even if John isn't holding classes, Juss is taking it in just the same. I can still recite my dad's favorite poems and passages of Shakespeare.
Hugs and smiles,

I can only hope that my children will say the same things.
